Children and Adolescents

Dr. Shah believes in a thorough evaluation to help make an accurate diagnosis and treat the underlying cause of the problem.

Once established as an outpatient, please remember that the process is not a quick fix. It entails changes in diet and nutritional needs, as well as the willingness to have patience to see a bigger change as we progress towards wellness. It may take months to notice improvements.

The initial appointment will last approximately 2 hours. Dr. Shah prefers that both parents attend, if possible. The initial consultation will have a one-hour evaluation with your child, followed by an interview with the parent. For young kids, Dr. Shah may use developmentally appropriate toys, games, and art supplies to make your child comfortable with getting additional information as needed. The evaluation will conclude with a reporting conference with parents to discuss findings and recommendations. If testing or medical records are available for review, please provide them prior to the appointment with Dr. Shah via fax or through our encrypted email system. As part of a complete evaluation, Dr. Shah will also review records and collaborate with other professionals that are providing care for your child. If extensive collaboration is required, an additional fee may be incurred. If there is complexity in the case, Dr. Shah may require an additional appointment to make recommendations.
